Dear Colleagues:
In the last quarter of this year, IEEE Technical Activities continued to focus attention and efforts on nurturing our technical communities, widening our support to all segments of the community, and planning for more engagement in the coming year.
Emerging technologies is one of the important activities areas on which we have directed our focus: we are working to identify new topics that deserve attention and we continue to aggregate and expand the related communities in the IEEE home. We are also reaching out to communities that are using our technologies and methodologies, and with which our experts may be in contact. We aim to embrace these communities and facilitate their knowledge dissemination. One of these areas is in environmental engineering, which is highly appealing to the younger generation, and essential for the future of the humanity.
What do you think?
The mission of the IEEE Technical Activities Board (TAB) is to nurture its worldwide technical communities, including Societies, Technical Councils, Chapters, and Future Directions initiatives.
What more should TAB be doing to nurture them? Join the discussion on IEEE CollabratecTM.

Nurturing our technical community worldwide and its local roots in chapters is essential to ensure a comprehensive, globalized flow of knowledge and networking opportunities for everybody. We strive to create new opportunities for building our communities, sharing advanced and practical knowledge, cooperating on new ideas, networking with experts, organizing new events, mentoring younger generations, helping to build bright careers, and much more. To support these activities, IEEE Technical Activities has significantly contributed to developing the innovative cooperative platform IEEE CollabratecTM, which has been recently deployed and made available to all communities. Building on this platform, we can expand significantly our interactions and promote the growth of technical communities around the world.
Nurturing our technical community has been the special focus of this year and will be our legacy for a vibrant flourishing future, for new generations, for better service to the humanity. The technical activities of the community are what really contribute to making a difference in the world.
Volunteers and staff in IEEE Technical Activities are doing a terrific job of expanding opportunities, events, services, and supporting our global technical communities, as well as our local roots in Chapters. Please visit the websites of your preferred Societies and Technical Councils to learn more.
You can be a part of this global effort: send us new ideas and needs you have identified. We can address them together. Please, contact us and become one of our valuable and active volunteers. Together, let’s be the engine of technology and innovation. Let’s change the world through technological innovation for the benefit of humanity.
Sincerely yours,
Vincenzo Piuri
