IEEE Education Week, held from 11 to 19 April 2026, demonstrated the power of community-driven learning. In its fifth year, the celebration brought together IEEE units, including Regions, Sections, Societies, and Councils, to highlight the diverse educational resources available to the global engineering community through live and virtual events, online resources, and special offers.
From the kickoff keynote with IEEE President Mary Ellen Randall, “Inspiring Tomorrow’s Innovators: How IEEE Educational Resources Can Open Pathways into STEM,” to local grassroots events, the week served as a vibrant showcase for IEEE’s commitment to lifelong learning across pre-university STEM, university, and continuing professional education.
“Education is a core reason for IEEE’s existence, and IEEE Education Week gives an opportunity for programs to shine each year,” said Jamie Moesch, Managing Director of IEEE Educational Activities. “Whether it’s pre-university, university programs, or advanced professional education and training, this week showcases valuable resources from every unit of IEEE so our volunteers, members, and the public can fully engage with the amazing opportunities IEEE offers.”
Community and Collaboration
One of the core goals of IEEE Education Week is to foster collaboration between IEEE Organizational Units. This year, 120+ partners ranging from the IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Education Society to local student branches and international sections in Sri Lanka, Bolivia, and Brazil contributed a total of 114 events and 11 special offers.
“Through our collaboration with IEEE Technical Activities and its diverse Societies and Councils, IEEE Education Week highlights the essential resources our members need to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving technological landscape,” said Timothy Kurzweg, Vice President, IEEE Educational Activities. “Beyond professional growth, it’s a vital opportunity to share the free, accessible tools that empower our members to inspire the next generation of engineers and technology professionals.”
